1 Introduction to pressure waves: physics and propagation, wave equation, standing waves, Fourier series, traveling wave solution, sound wave as longitudinal waves, acoustic wave propagation, and wave scattering concepts. 6
2 Introduction to sensor arrays and apertures, transducer basics, significance of arrays, resolution, spatial sampling, sidelobes, grating lobes, space-time signals, near-field, and wide-band aspects. 6
3 Array Beamforming - Time-Domain: Delay-and-Sum, Interpolation; Frequency Domain: Phase Steer, Maximizing Array Gain; Advanced Beamforming: Non-linear beamforming, data adaptive beamforming algorithms. 12
4 Array Imaging - Reconstruction from Projections, Synthetic Aperture (Ultrasound and Sonar), Wideband Beamforming: Space-Time Adaptive Processing (STAP). 8
5 Applications - Examples from microphone arrays, ultrasound, sonar, tomography among others. 10
