POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA LIMITED
The Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Palakkad, organized an industrial visit to the POWER GRID CORPORATION OF INDIA LIMITED 400/220kV Palakkad Substation on 27th September 2025 under the guidance of Dr. Manas Kumar Jena. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to high-voltage transmission operations and covered key areas such as the substation layout, 400kV and 220kV yards, 500 MVA transformer, fire-fighting systems, and the Control Room with its SCADA-based monitoring. Students also gained valuable insights into various protection relay schemes used for transformers and feeders, highlighting the importance of grid stability and equipment security. Adhering to all safety protocols, the participants benefited greatly from this informative experience, and the department extends sincere gratitude to POWERGRID management and staff for their support. The visit was accompanied by Dr. Manas Kumar Jena, Dr. Anirudh Guha, Dr. Arun Rahul S, Mr. Sanil Sharahudeen and Mr. Sivaseelan.

CSIR–NAL, Bengaluru
The technical delegation team from CSIR–NAL, Bengaluru, visited IIT Palakkad on 12th August 2025 to explore collaboration opportunities. They visited the Electrical Machines and Power Systems laboratories. Dr. Arun Rahul S, faculty in charge, assisted the visit along with his PhD students and staff members.

Viveham Schools, Dharapuram
A group of 50 students from Viveham Schools, Dharapuram, visited the Electrical Machines and Power Systems Laboratory on 6th August 2025. The visit introduced students to core laboratory infrastructure and ongoing research themes, encouraging early engagement with electrical engineering.

Sri Ramakrishna Institutions
Faculty members from Sri Ramakrishna Institutions, including Ramakrishna College of Engineering and Ramakrishna Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, visited the Electrical Machines and Power Systems Laboratory. They engaged in an insightful discussion with Dr. Arun Rahul on current research areas, fostering future collaboration and strengthening academic ties.
